For my work in Portugal, I did something rather unusual for me: I went without looking at a single image beforehand. Since I was not in charge of the trip’s planning, I had no idea what to expect, no idea what we’d see, or what the lighting would be like at that time of day. I wanted to be surprised, and my goodness, I was. Because of this, my camera was in my hand everywhere we went.
On most trips, when we have a nice dinner planned, I try to minimize my photo kit as much as possible so that I can be completely present and in the moment, simply enjoying the company. But due to the unexpected nature of this trip, and the fact that Portugal is so beautiful, I decided to take my big camera to our dinner by the ocean.
Lost at Sea evokes a sense of comfort despite loneliness. A single sailboat, alone at sea, in utter peace.
